Zip Tie NW Mod

This mod takes less than a minute and has improved our skimmers performance big time. The best part about it is now our bac pac is dead silent. I am not sure why, but it is. Yes there are better NW/thread wheel mods out there, but I had the zipties lying around and decided to give it a try.


the maxijet isnt the greatest pump for nw's because of the small impeller housing. with that said this mod helps with minimal effort and time.

I cut two little v's into the the top and the bottom of each fin.That made a hugh difference in the preformance of the skimmer.

I tried that on another skimmer and it definitely helped. Drilling small holes w/fishline from fin to fin seemed to be slightly more effective This so far has been the best besides a threadwheel I have tried.

It is a coarse plastic mesh. Look up the ati bubble master, it is what it uses. Many people use the DLS material from aquaticecosystems.

Nice mod going to try that since I just got a 24" HOB refuge with skimmer combo and its louder than my old bakpak.
