Can someone help with my zoa color change. It was a really nice purple when i bought it. Now its a pinkish brown. It seem to be growing nicely. Could it be too much light.

Its a biocube29 with florescent lighting. Placement is about halfway up.

Do you Dose anything? Any Supplemental feedings? What are your Water Parmaters?

It was one of my first corals so its been through a lot. Parameters are all normal now after more experience. Have not fed until recently. Using a power thats mixed with the tank water called nano reef coral food.

Try this Get some kents essential elements and the Tech CB 2 part calcium and alk (also Kent) And Iodine wouldn't hurt either and follow the instructions on the Bottles. Also what type lighting do you have and what lighting schedule does your tank follow?

it has the stock florescent tubes. ill check when i get home. Its 10 hours regular lights and 12 for the blue light.

The stock lighting on the BC 29 is a 72w canopy. It has 1 36w 10,000k daylight and 1 36w blue actinic03. Both are PC lights.

Sounds like a 10k and an antintic which should be good. Like i said try the Above supplements and you might even pick up some Kents Coral Vite and Some Marine Snow to add to the list But i would start with the Ones i listed first and see if they perk up any.

I kind of like the second color better! :)

One very experienced reefer I know gave up on zoas. He said no matter what color they came to him, they all ended up dull brown. I think this can happen in low-nutrient tanks.

One other thing on the zoa's. Check out the zoa forum. There's a thread on there about dosing vitamin C to the tank. It seems that a lot of people are having positive results with it.
