Zoa eating nudibranchs...Caught one

I just caught this guy munching on one of my colonies.

He is very small.... maybe 1 cm long and blended right in.

The only reason I was able to catch him was seeing a couple of the polyps closing up and noticing a slight bit of odd movement.

I pulled the rock out before taking a picture in fear that I wouldn't be able to find him after running upstairs to grab my camera.

Right now I have him living in a little glass. I hate to kill him but he certainly can not be trusted in my tank.

Without further comment here he is:

KILL THE NUDI!!!

I hate to freak you out but that looks like an adult to me and where there is one there is bound to be more.

yellow coris---not really a coris but will go at them with a vengeance. Are you having problems with them?

got to look at our zoas in the tank. i have noticed them not opening for a few weeks. noticed some not opening for much longer. then i see these fuzzy things crawling over some closed up ones. Got my brother-in-law to suck it out with the turkey baster (i was recently in the pool) and looked on zoaid and there it is. we have these nudi's.

i sware, i have recently battled red bugs in the main tank, just bought some SPS frags with AEFW (found out after!) and now these!

most are on main rocks that will not come out for dip, so a yellow or green coris warsse will eat these things!?

Zach.

Congratulations! I came home today from work and found this guy crawling around on my zoos housed on the frag rack. Sucked him up with a turkey baster, examined him for a minute or two, took a couple pics and flushed him down the toilet!

check for the nudi eggs......that's the next step

you can kill the adult nudis in a snap...no biggie....but it's the eggs you have to worry about....FW dips will not kill 'em.....you'll usually have to get a tool and almost scrape them off the zoa to get rid of them

Zach

Yep. Found a few of them myself over the weekend. Dipped to zoos in FW to kill the ones that hatched and used tweezers to pull of some eggs.

sucked out at least 20 today and a couple of very annoying egg sacks. Before I saw this thread I thought they were neat little guys, now i know why my zooas werent opening

Yeah, I've been keeping an eye on the zoas after the lights go out and the polyps close up. So far, I haven't seen any eggs but I'm guessing they're pretty hard to spot if you don't know what you're looking for. I also am wondering if anybody has a pic of the nudibranch eggs so I know exactly what they look like. Thanks.
