Finally got the 45gal up and cycling.......:bounce1:
I'm thinking of turning the tonga branch into a zoa branch. Glue zoas in different patches of the branch and let them take over. Is this a good or bad idea? Any other suggestions? What would you guys do?
This is a clean slate to work with and I'm looking forward to your suggestions...:D

Sorry for the horrible pics, I have no photo skills......:hmm4:

Oh that would look epic! I would stick with zoas only on the rock you want, reason being is I tried something similar on a rock in my tank but had a paly/zoa mix and now the palys are taking over. ARGH!
By the way the pictures look just fine!

^^^^ +1

if you can get them to take, it looks great.

I tried it on my branches and they just didnt seem to spread.:sad1:

I ended up putind some SPS and Acans on mine and it worked out better for me.

got a lot of compliments on the SPS look, but they're all dead now.(PC lighting) lesson learned.

good luck!!!

Any updates?

Your pics are not horrible, in fact I think they are great.

I think you and Rokie should bounce things off each other as your systems appear identical. Big asset for sure.

Any idea on what your bioload will be?

Looks great, keep up the good work.:thumbsup:

Sorry I haven't updated this thread. Not much happening with the tank, it's still cycling. I've been slowly collecting some zoas though. Its in my 14gal tank right now. The color isnt very vibrant because I'm using a 50/50 65w PC bulb on it.
Please let me know what you think. Do they look healthy? Any recommendations or feedback is greatly appreciated.
The pink zoa in the last pic I just picked up 2 days ago. It didn't look too good at the LFS but I'm hoping it will make a comeback.

Mucho,
I will be keeping a pair of GSM clowns, a blue spot jawfish, cleaner shrimps and some hermit crabs. I want to dedicate the tonga branch to just zoas.
Hopefully it will turn out the way its pictured in my head.....:lolspin:

Im not liking the PH placement and would add more LR , then start off with some CUC.

Thanks for pointing that out. I don't like the placement either because the water is being returned from the right side of the tank. Where would you place them? Thanks!!

I did the same one with one of my tonga branches, it looks amazing when it starts to fill in but yeh def keep it zoas only as the palys will become a pain later, imo...

What a cool idea! I've got tons of different Zoas, Tonga Zoa branch here I come.
Maybe some King Midas golds and some Blue Hornets and then some Bam Bams, .......
