zoa pox??? help...

I would move the two affected frags to higher flow and lower light, then wait and see.

They were fine where they are for over about 2 months all open and looking awesome on both frags, but I am willing to try anything.

They are 6-8 inches from a modded mj 900 and up high so I will move them down a little they wont get much more flow anywhere else.

With my limited experience, I would like to buck the trend as well... (No Zoa Pox) Seriously consider the QT though(I'll give you a new tank if you need it.) Anything concerning Methylene Blue makes me really nervous in a reef tank.

Nothing good happens fast in a reef tank. Patience...

Mike, I would take you up on that offer, but their is 1 problem. Getting just the tank isnt going to get me very far.

I need more then a tank, I need literally everything for a QT....tank, light, heater, filtration, thermometer. (now i wish i didnt sell my old 20 gallon and give away my bio wheel filter)

I am literally flat broke and going thru a rough time. I had to borrow cash from my woman for water because my fuge was blowing bubbles.

I am also going to have to put the build on hold for awhile, If you want me to come get the tank out of the way let me know. I will try to make arrangements to get out their my driving privlages got taken away for health reasons..

No worries, man. I have everything you need for a QT. Light, filtration, heater, thermometer, Etc. If you have some gas cans, I have water too. :) Just give me a buzz.

not pox. I agree with Chelsey and I do not agree with the hoopla about C...
I would just FW dip them to make surre nothing is bugging them and sit them in an area of decent flow and low light or actinic only. good luck.

edit.. Pinks are the worst at melting and your red polyps are Solomon and they are sometimes are tough too keep

I agree 100% and the pinks can just melt for no reason from time to time. They normally do not like being fragged at all. Its not zoapox as I dont see any pox on them ?? Zoanthids can be one of the easiest to keep but also one of the hardest. I have seen so many issues with them over the years and lost way to many to talk about !:mad2:

I did a 5 gallon water change last night before I went to bed.

I am going to give them a FW dip as soon as I figure out how long they should be dipped for.

So, how long?? and should I do anything other then just sit them in the water for awhile?

Also, how many dips and how often should i do?

just fill a bowl with tap water the same temp as your tank. Add a few drops of tincture iodine, if you don't have any don't worry about it. Dip them for a couple of minutes shake them about and remove. Run actinic only or no lights for the next light cycle. You can get Tincture at any local Walgreens/CVS for about $2 and it is good to have around. good luck

Thanks Phil.

I do not have any tincture iodine, but I do have a bottle of seachem reef iodide. If you can let me know if I should use it and if so how much. I will just FW dip them for now.

Oh, and 1 more question you said to use TAP.... that scares me will RO serve the same purpose or is their something in the TAP water that is benificial?

I have had my face basically glued to the tank frame like DOTZ's skimmer for 3-4 days now

:lolspin:I nearly spit my drink all over the screen with that one Twiz (sorry Dotz).:lolspin:
Hope that all works out well with the zoas.

Tap has a higher PH and if nasties are on them a little chlorine helps. I would not waste the iodide as it is pretty much useless as far as a concentrated dip. Next time you are at a drugstore pick some up...if you out my way I have a few bottles you can have. good luck

Have you thought about a sponge or like thing? I have a branch where the Zoa's look like yours. It looks a lot like a sponge or some such thing that is just somothering the zoa's.

I have an unused 4 stage ro/di unit and a float valve that you can borrow until you get back on your feet. There is no need to buy water! All you will need is a line tap, but I think I have a spare one of those. After you get going again we can work something out. JLMK

I have a couple of line taps and a bunch of 1/4" line...... Oh, and a few skimmers that will work for the QT. Just need to pick the one you want to borrow...... It will only cost you a small frag or two someday when all is well....
