ive got a few rocks with more than one different types the wont stay separate and usually the more ugly ones will grow faster leaving no grow room for the nice ones
Thanks for the reply, I was wanting to place some pinks with some bright greens on a rock and let them cover the rock, would you suggest this or just keep one color per rock?
I quite enjoy mixing colors as well. Brings about some nice contrast. Unfortunately as mentioned you cannot control which ones grow faster... sometimes one type will quickly overpower another. If you don't mind this then I don't see a problem with it. I have a few rocks with two different types of zoas on them and it's fine with me.
It all depends what you are trying to do with your tank. I love how they look when 2 colonies grow together. Or even more.... It almost fades to the new color. You can also help make both really pop if they are different colors. Good Luck!
I would definitely grow them together. If you have some of the more expensive zoanthids (ie purple hornets), I would give them plenty of room to grow without running into the others.
I have never seen one type completely overrun another.
Ie, if you start with say 15 green and 10 pink on a rock... you might end up with 150 green and 25 pink... but the green not 150 green and zero pink...
