Zoa spread through NON-budding?

Hey guys,
I started to notice a couple polyps appear over the past two days about 4 inches below the mother colony. I cant really find any information on Zoas spreading through any fashion other than budding. Is this a common thing, and could it mean that i should move the mother colony lower in the tank?

Also any ideas on how they accomplished this the task of forming free standing polyps elsewhere in the tank?

I've seen some of mine extend their base to get more light or flow and then reattach to spot that they are in contact with. Maybe this is what happened?

Here I took some photos...
The first one is the whole tank, the mother colony of interest is the pink one at the top middle.

Second photo: close up on the mother colony on top and if you look real close on the bottom behind the green colony you might see two tiny pink polyps.

Third: an attempt to get the two pink polyps. they are in a difficult spot to photo graph.

My first thought was that some of the above tried to bud, but being on a "cliff" the bud fell off? Second was that somehow they asexually reproduced, but I don't see any elsewhere in the tank.
