@impur... that pic of your HUGE red hornet colony doesn't do it any justice.... beautiful! I'm jealous.. I hope my frag of 4 will grow that big one day... how many did that colony start with?

Thanks!! I'm having some troubles getting a perfect pic of them, this one is a bit blurry but represents the colors nicely. It started from 1 polyp!! Once it hit about 20 polyps they really start sprouting quickly. I get a new polyp each day now it seems like.

How about something slightly different?
Here's a small frag of Isaurus tuberculatus, which is in fact in the same family as Zoanthus ssp... I'm not sure what's up with the hermit crab orgy, though:
A shot by night shows the relation a lot better:
Also, I managed to get a nice small frag of these (RPE? PRPE? whatever...), although they're still sort of ticked off because they were freshly fragged...
And here's three lovely blue polyps I recently fragged out of a frag of Mean Greens:

Really? IMO zoa's are the easiest coral to keep. I dont want to turn this into a discussion thread but there are many threads on what ppl feed their zoa's. Me personally, i dont feed and get some great growth with the basic of basic set ups. Take another stab at them. As much as i love sps, my zoa's are alot easier to maintain.:thumbsup:

In your opinion is a frag just as easy to get going as an established Zoa? I was thinking to get a frag since my tank is small and that would be cheaper considering my history of not having much luck with zoas, also thinking Star Polyp to see if that would grow. Those usually take over areas... Im gonna wait though, til I get my MP10, that might be the answer to everything-at least I hope so. Your zoas are so nice looking, would really love to have something like that for my tank...

I've bought colonies, and frags. I like frags better because the gratification I get seeing them grow. I think your best bet is a cheap frag you could score locally. If you buy online me personally I'd buy from ppl on RC. I haven't yet personally but all my zoa's are purchased locally. Cept my red and purple hornets that I traded for. Most the ppl that sell on here are pest free, usually ppl wait a week before selling to make sure they are okay. I'm not bashing online places but I've read a few bad stories. If you want you can PM me. I think there's other reasons why your unsuccessful. Thanks for the compliment. I can't really compete with the vets on here tho. I've only been collecting the last 7 months.
