Zoanthid Pruning

Hi folks,

I have a single zoanthid colony in my tank that is really starting to take off. I have a number of long green branch like things growing. On those are little baby zoanthids. I'm thrilled they are growing, but it's really starting to encroach on some other corals, and I'd like to nip the branches to prevent further growth in some places. Is this ok to do? Will cutting these harm my tank in anyway?
