Zoas/Aiptasia - Joe's Juice

I received some nice RPE's yesterday and they are opened up and looking nice. There is one tiny Aiptasia in the middle of the colony. I am concerned about using Joe's Juice. I don't want to risk getting it into the zoas. I have never used it before, but I have some from a previous experience (the peppermint shrimp took care of it that time). It is obviously stinging the zoas as they are pulling away from it. How risky is it to use the Joe's Juice and is there another option?

I say kill it and then start target feeding the zoas. Next week you will have 3 not one, then they will start apearing elsewhere in the tank. The zoas will recover, especially if you feed them, they will grow well.

Good luck, Kevin

Thank you! In my other tank, when it was introduced, the peppermint shrimp took care of it. That was in a 29 gallong tank though. This is a 240, I don't want to risk it getting out of control in a tank this big.

Sorry Mary,
I looked before I sent them.....I must have over looked it. I have used kalk paste with good results on Aiptasia in colonies of zoanthids. If you use a hypodermic needle you can administer the cure in a more precise manner and not have to worry about the paste killing the zoanthids(RPEs). I think Joe's juice has a much larger tip on the applicator then a hypodermic needle....I usually look and get them if there are any before I send out....my apologies.

Its OK, no harm done. I got rid of the aiptasia and the zoas still look great! All the other frags were clean. Really no big deal...

I have used boiling hot water and a needle. just blast it and were it goes in the rock. it will melt right away.
