i have a couple of zoas in my tank they are becoming to look long n skinny. are they dying or unhealthy?

Yes you can move them up a few inches every week until you get them to the spot you want.
Or you can upgrade your lighting depending on what you have. :wildone: A great way to sneak into the LPS

Not enough light for sure. What is your lighting and schedule?

I have t5's oddessya quads HO 2x48 for my 20g acrylic. also i think i mess up by not doing a water change. turn on actinic for an hour b4 daylights come on and leave on for about 8hrs n shut of daylight n leave actinc on for an hr more n then turn on my LED moonlights

Is that a two bulb or four bulb fixture and what bulbs are you running in it? You say Quad above but then 2 x 48. Is Is it really 48" long? I know you say you can't get a picture but I think it would really help at this point and doesn't have to be the greatest picture just so we can see your tank configuration. Even a cell phone one would work. Last but not least how deep is the tank? Your lighting period is fine and it seems like those T-5's should be enough light.

How long have you had them? If they are a new addition, what lighting were they under in the previous system? Don't let your guard down, this could be the start of a meltdown. Do a pest dip, then a furan2 treatment. Not saying the lighting isn't the problem, but t5's are enough for zoanthids. I once kept zoanthids under a power bright l.e.d strip as their only light, they did fine and grew. My lfs did the same with gsp, and ricordea.

How deep is the tank? Is it possible that a two bulb T5 strip isn't enough? Seems like I should be. How old are the bulbs? If they need replacing that could be some of the problem.

I would bet money that since they are in your sand bed that they need more light. Slowly move them higher up in the tank. Good luck.

I also have a couple of zoas in my tank they are becoming to look longer n skinner. They were in my sand bed for about a month with about 60W T5 light on 25gal tank.

Based on the discussion above, I moved the zoas to 15 gal coral only tank with DIY 7 low of 15 inch 5050 LED lights mixed with blue & white. (sorry don't know exact wattage for my LED light, there are 168 5050 LED in total).

I will report back if that made any change. Thank you for your help.
