sup guys, quick question,i noticed that when im feeding the tank, some of the zoas looks like they kinda puff up ,what that means? specially the RPE's...

probably feeding response, cuz they dont seen irritated at all... RPE's are always happy and they are the ones that i noticed more puffing then other zoas i have in the tank... i was wondering bout dosing, i dont dose anything and i was wondering if u guys dose some of the b-ionic for the zoas tank?

i am just a newbie
i dose b ionic daily for 2 years in my 72 gallon reef
it takes testing to put the levels where you want but once you find them they stay steady
mine is alk 8.3 and cal 420
I put a dry reef rock in my tank and within 8 weeks it is totally encrusted in Coraline
I use 28 ml of each part in a 72 gallon that keeps my tank happy i also use reef crystals salt some people don't like it but i have been using it since day one and if it is not broken don't fix it

I love b ionic and have been using it since day one i am a firm believer that it is a good product just from the Coraline growth

I have seen tank using just reef crystals and it takes over 6 to 8 months for a white rock to be completely covered

bulk reef supply sells a 3 part system in bulk that is way cheaper alk, cal, and mag
i have been afraid to switch for the reason that i am not sure of the differences between the 2 but i don't want to start the testing process every day again

you might want to look at brs for their specs and see if it is the same as b ionic if so it is way cheaper

wow thats pretty good... 8 weeks to total encrust a piece of base rock.. I dose my tanks w/ esv every other day and top off w/ kalk everyday ( i use it as my makeup water ,drip of course) and tanks only a couple months old but I have no coraline algae that i can see growing on any of the new base that was added.. I have tons of coraline in the tank (over 200 lbs of LR) but the white base rock is only starting to get green algae on it now.. ca is 480 continuously, no nitrites or nitrates or ammonia... MG is 1380.... whats wrong here! patience...patience....patience.... lol

what i do is when i put new rocks into the tank i always scrape Coraline off of the other rocks and the glass until the rock has a good foot hold and the rest is history
i might be a little generous with the time but between 2 and 4 months my rocks go green no brown and as soon as i get little specks of Coraline the growth takes off

the only reason i am amazed is i have seem 2 year old tanks with little coraline growth and good levels
I change my water every week 10 to 20% i know that's a lot but it is what i have always done and i think all the extra trace elements in the new water and the b ionic is what aids in quick Coraline growth

try scraping a little Coraline off the rocks and glass every day or 2 and with cal and mag levels that you have you should see lots of growth very quickly
your good rocks will look a little white after scraping off but will grow back quickly

happy reefing

my RPEs have done that too.. when i feed them one day they do that then the next there perfectly fine.. another odd reef keeper thing
