zoas havent opened in 3 weeks but the arent dead

I guess she brought the camera because they are fine! LOL!!
Show us the picture. :D

Good! I'm glad they are open.
You don't need to feed every two days.
Just once a week is good, if you have the right food for them.

lol ok heres a pic from my crappy cell phone (I need an iPhone)

you can see the difference between the other zoas in the tank (far right) and how small These are (far left) However the ones on the right are already rather large, about the diameter of a #2 pencil.

I have some food called Coral Smoothy, it was what the LFS recommended. I realized after Posted last time that you said only once a week so thats what I plan on doing.

Good they opened up, hope they continue to do well, i have had zoas been closed on me for nearly as long only to pull through, i love how hardy they can be

if only they were as hardy as the Xenia that i routinely suck up in my siphon on accident during water changes lol. I feel like you have to abuse them to make them grow faster lol

I've never tried Coral Smoothy yet. I would go slow with that one once I never heard anything about it's success. Use small quantities and don't put the bottle in the water (I know they tell you to do that on their instructions!). You can use a dropper or something similar to target feed the zoas. It wouldn't be good to accidentally suck any tank water into the bottle. I would shake the bottle slowly to make sure the particles are mixed well and not at the bottom of the container. Feed them tiny amounts. They won't eat much anyway. Hopefully they can grab the particles. You can keep skimmer running and turn off the pumps while feeding.
Remember that normally you'll notice anything positive after 2 or 3 weeks. It takes time...
Good luck!

OK shouldn't be a problem. I've been using the ole shot glass and eye dropper. One for me one for the fish.. lol

Forgot to mentioned. The do react when I feed them but weather they are graving food or closing up because of the sudden flow I'm not sure

You could turn off the pumps and let the food drop on them so they can grab the particles.
They can take a while but normally they close up and ingest.

Don't forget, small amounts, only what they can consume...
It's a waste to feed them too much. Better make sure they ingest the food.
Take your time and make sure the fishes won't bother them during their feeding time.

so wednesday i was upgrading my 20 long to a 29 and i think i figured out why my zoas closed up in the first place. i had a tiny RBTA in my tank that i had gotten for free a few months ago and i had completely forgotten about it. well while taking the rock out of the tank i discovered it dead in between a few rocks. i have heard that they release a bunch of crap when they die and im pretty sure that is what did it. the water smelled kind of like fish which i hadnt noticed until then. i basically did a 70-80% water change during the switch over and it no longer smells bad and the zoas are doing a lot better now. would you guys agree that was the source of my problem?

Yes, to leave the dead anemone in the tank was A problem.
I'm glad you found that and did the water changes.
