zoas on rocks/sand

So ive got a little colony of zoas on a frag rock. It fell off its original bigger piece of rock today and landed nicely on the sand. Will zoas grow onto sandbeds at all or do they need to grow onto rocks? Thanks.

I have had them survive on the sand, but usually they end up gettig blown around the tank and settle on a rock.

i've heard they do fine on sand.......
