Hey everybody, picked up a bunch of zoas and for some reason, I have 2 that are just refusing to open. Water parameters are all stable and have been. The other 8 zoas I have are open and glowing but these two are refusing. One is a red with a blue mouth and I can't even remember what the other is. I'm worried about moving it to the very top, it's on the bottom now and was open when in the middle, but I put new bulbs in the tank so I moved it back down. Do any zoas like really intense light?
Is this a new tank? If not, how mature is it?
Can you list the parameters and type of testing?
Do you have a macro pic to share?
Persistent moving will only delay their expansion. Are you aware of their previous light sources, type, wattage, k value etc?
Did you light acclimate them?
Just curious, some were open mid tank, but you moved them to the bottom and added new lights. Why did you do that if you were already having expansion issues? Not being mean here at all, just curious. Zoas can and will tolerate, adapt, acclimate to most any type of lighting if acclimated slowly.
If you can add more info, I'm sure someone here and shed some light on your situation.
See the link below, I hope it helps.

Can you leave your tank completely dark tomorrow, your fish and corals will be fine, then on the next day, run your actinics only for 10 hours. Then on the 3rd day, run your actinics for 3 hours, then turn on your daylights. Can you share what happens then?
By the way, where are they now relative to and flow/current in your tank? If not in line, they should be, but only under moderate current for now.
Good luck, and I think they will come around for you.
