Is this somthing serious? I have clear bubbles on one of my rocks with zoes.

If you have excessive micro bubbles in your water column, they will attach themselves to your corals. If this is indeed what you are experiencing, you can use a turkey baster to dislodge the bubbles as they really aren't harmful, just unsightly to look at. I would focus on correcting the source of the micro bubbles as well.

Another source of the bubbles could be the beginning or advanced stages of dinoflagellates. See links below. I can't find my J. Sprung Algae control book, or else I could share with you what he suggest to do to eradicate. It's a very good book to have.

Hope this helps.

do they look like this??

Im suddenly curious as well.......they come off easy enough with a q-tip. but not with flow and an iodine dip made them stand out like a sore thumb where before I dipped they were still there...but not so easy to see. this may or may not mean anything.......you can see the clear health of these polyps.

They are water bubbles, they rub right off. I have them on every paly that I remove from my tank. Sometimes the water bubbles will cover the entire head of the polyp when it is removed from the tank. From the picture, that's what they appear to be to be. I could be very wrong though, might be something else.

you are right. I just went and poked them with scissors instead of a q-tip or my finger....

I cant believe i never ntoiced them before looking quite like that....ive taken a lot of pics of palys in and out of the water.

I got too much acrylic in my eyes earlier today and combined with playing with that zoa pox with that new frag i got in in that other thrad i posted.....im hallucinating lol

are the clear bubbles on the zoas or on the rocks?

like said it could be air...

could also be the beginning of bubble algae...mine start clear then green up over time...
