zoo placement?

i recieved my super colored colony polyp the other day and the spot i had picked out was in a high light area but unfortunetly the rock that the zoo's are on is sorta rounded at the bottom so placement was difficult (it kept sliding and falling)
i found a nice snug spot where it is secure however im not sure this is the right place since it is on the lower level of the aquarium, and is slightly shaded by the adjoining rock.
my tank is 10 gallons and my lighting is 2x40 day and actinic bulbs power compact (satellite)
the lighting is sufficient for such a small tank, but what about the zoo? bad spot? ive seen pictures here with zoo's placed just about anywhere, but what should i do, would it be ok to leave it? what are the signs it is not doing well?
here is a pic you can see towards the back the partial shading
