zoo problems

My tank is somewhat new. But I have xenia, monticap, mushrooms, and pipe-organ coral all living happily in there. Everything is growing and doing really well.

But I also have a small plug/frag with some orange zoos. When I first put them in they looked terrific. But over time they are opening less and less and they are turning really pale and shrinking up.

I moved them from middle of tank to top (for more light). I also moved them in tank in case of flow preferences. If anything it's gotten worse.

Is there a trick to keeping zoos? High flow? Low flow? Intense light? Low light? Should I be feeding them something?

Thanks.

Only critters =
1 snail
1 Kole Tang
1 Ocellaris Clown

How much light should it have? Should I put it in middle or bottom of tank?

Thanks!

if you have MH that might be a little too much .. but the bottom for a while . fun some water through a test kit and see if anything has changed .. and as far as the critters im thinking flat worm

Hmmmm, I do have flat worms. I've seen one of them but I'll be there are more. I guess there's nothing I can do about that, right? (It was a little one, maybe 1/2 inch.)

I'll move them lower and see if that helps. Just tested my water and it's great.

the one i found was close to two inches long .. i found him when i took all the rock out of my tank and looked for him .. he was on the bottom of a rock under the sand

Do the fw/iodide dip. You may have a nudibranch problem.. Don't bother trying to look for them (except in the fw dip container). They are next to impossible to see.
Good luck!

I have to keep my zoos at the bottom of my tank - almost all varieties will not like halides and will take a long time to get used to them, even then they will not color-up or open-up as they would under VHO's or Compact flourescents - try to keep them in the shade where they will get some partial reflection of glimmer lines, but no direct intensity from the halides

If you have nudi's, I'd expect the zoos to be closed-up due to irritation, not slowly shrinking as you described - this is IME a result of too much light, too much flow, or too clean of water....

Can anyone tell me if a zoo is infested will all yours zoo's get infested? I havent had real good luck with zoo's but my tank is full of corals and everything else is doing fine. I have started target feeding my zoo's and they look better but a couple still stay closed most of the time so I was wondering if they are next to a healthy zoo will the healthy one get infested also?

Yeah, they seem to be doing a lot better.

Someone suggested that it might be toxins released when I frag them. I had been fragging them aggressively, so I thought that made sense. I quit fragging them and did some water changes. Now they seem to be doing really well!

Thanks for all your help; I really appreciate it. It was just the strangest thing. But they seem to be doing a lot better.

When you target feed your zoos, what do you feed them? Just the regular coral-food mix?
I made a blended mix of salmon, scallops, shrimp, cyclopeeze, selcon, and I use a turkey baster and feed everything this mix. My stronger zoo's seem to doing alot better but I have some that just didnt do to well at all and I was just wondering if I could heve some worm or infestation . I didnt know if it would just hit some or all cuz some as I said are doing fine and since target feeding the good ones are doing even better. I always fead a powder like marc weise black powder and marine snow and I have started to feed zoo plan as I like to feed a variety of things but the target feeding seems to work the best.
