Zoo Reproduction via Fission

After getting everything in my tank mad when I was rearranging stuff, I noticed this partially closed fissile pair of polyps. Pretty cool.

Here is another shot I took of some other zoos

I have a ppe polyp that looks to be in the process of splitting. Has anyone ever seen this before?

this is probably the 3rd time I've seen this happen. The other 2 times it was with a colony of green tentacled polyps, this is the first time I've seen it on another colony.

i've recently started looking for such instances and noticed that it's pretty common on the proto-palys (the really thin and large palys).

since i've been looking, i found one on 4 out of 6 colonies.

but i've not seen a 'standard' zoa split in person yet...

interesting , i think I have a zoa doint that very thing. I will try to get a pic when the lights are on tonight and see if it just isn't two zoas real close together.

My Blue Palythoa do it constantly.

I must have 10 on a colony of 100 or so doing it now. I feed them Mysis they gobble it up. Might be why.

Two of them are doing it in this picture. I took this right after i got the colony. I'll get a new one up later that shows a bunch of them.
