hey guys i have recieved a shipment of zoo's that xboxhacker had for sale... he had shiped them to me and the shipment was returned due to a mistake on his part with the address, so when he recieved them i guess he just reshiped them again without checking on them or changing their water... when i recived them the shipment was leaking bad...when i opend the box all the bags" zip lock's" were almost completely dry and the stench was unberable... i quicklly palce the zoo's in the frag tank, they were all bleached and diminishing quickly... i dont know how to post the link here but the post is about 10 to 15 days old and its title is zoos for sale by xboxhacker... i just want any input on what i can do to help these zoo's come back to life... any feedback would be appreciated...

now that is in the first day, they have recieded much more lately and have a brown film on them, i have a power head that i turn on and face their way to help them get rid of the brown film... any other suggestions???

Weren't they already dying when he shipped them? I saw in his other thread that he had a heat disaster and lost corals.

I try to frag any healthy tissue away... or at least keep them separated from your other corals. The dying corals can pollute your tank.

i have them in a tank i use to cure live rock, the rock is alredy cured and i have a skimmer and vho's to supplement them with light... he said that the zoo's were fine though...

who the heck ships using zip lock bags anymore anyway? those things are a guaranteed leak factory!

thats what i'm saying, he placed a grabage bag inside the box like he was expecting them to leak... i dont get it...

Well lining the box with a garbage bag is prudent, because if it does leak and the box gets wet, the post office will NOT be happy with the sender.

Having said that, I totally agree that zip-lock bags are no way to SHIP something. I only use them for local trades, where I just have to drive a short distance and there's minimal jostling of the bags.

Has the guy replied to you?

I had to make a claim with paypal for him to actually contact me... and he isnot willing to work with me so i will have to deal with paypal to see if i can get my money back...

Thats not right, i think there is enough info t o suggest that the zoas might have been in bad condition when shipped and a poor method of shipping was used, and not willing to resend more frags or refund money, thats not cool, RC mods should help resolve this or delete his account.

RC.com isn't eBay and the mod will probably do nothing about it. This is clearly the sellers fault and he should refund all the money. I’d love to see what Paypal would do in this case though.

did you pay with bank funds or a credit card through paypal....

if you paid with a CC, the CC company can dispute it for you

I know what I think.
When I first read his F/S thread I did'nt trust him because people were asking if the pictures of the zoa's were before the heat problem or after and he would'nt answer that question.

Sorry about the loss. When people sell in the selling forums there is usually no guarantee but when they are that careless it's ridiculous and you should get your money back.
None of the shipping companies will pay insurance for live corals either even though they screw up.

Ive sold frags and had a few mishaps because of the shippers screwing up and usually offer to send another frag if they pay postage again.

Good Luck!

Correct. We simply supply the forum for selling and buying as a service to our members. We have no control of anything past the actual proper posting and replies of a selling thread. What happens outside of the actual thread is not something that we are able to do anything about. Posting in the Buyer/Seller Feedback forum is always a good idea in a situation like this.

I feel for you,I had a similar situation with a RC member here.He shipped my zoa's 3 day priority, but shipped them on Wed.so they sat at the local UPS facility until the following Mon.UPS doesn't deliver air freight on sat.So needless to say my zoa's sat in ziplock bags for 6 days.About 3 polyps survived out of the many...the seller won't answer my PM's either.
