Zooanthid and Mushroom Leather

Can an Eagle Eye Colony Zoa feel threatend if a mushroom coral is placed - say about 5 inches away?

I had a mushroom detach and plant itself next to a big colony of zoas. The zoas aren't doing well. Mine was actually touching the zoa colony, though.

Since mushrooms are so slimy, I would think that that would effect the growth of your zoo's. You could run some carbon or do water changes but I have heard that leather coral can kill zoo colonies if left unchecked. Largly alleopathic due to the nature of that species!

5" should be plenty of room especially if you have a decent amount of flow in there. i've had zoas grow completely around the base of a leather before.
