Hey Guys,
I ended up spending only $69 with free s/h. On a basic 'portable' 4 stage 100GPD Reverse Osmosis Deionized system from purewaterclub. I used to have a Water General RD-106 5 stage 100 GPD RO/DI with tank/faucet connection like 10 years ago that worked great for me when I had a lot of large tanks and just got back into the hobby for cheap with a 29 Gallon tank about 25 days ago. No bad algae/diatom bloom in tank.
Anyway, I just got my TDS meter (TDS3 for $3.26 free s/h from China that came after about 21 days) and figured I would check my water and post my readings.
I live in Phoenix/Glendale, Arizona. My house was built in 1988. The tap water here is ok tasting to me. It is hot...around 100F.
I took a few different readings;
RO/DI Clean water: 0PPM @82F
Cold Tap water: 529PPM @80F (only ran it for a little bit)
Hot Tap water: 595PPM @104F (only ran it for a little bit)
Fridge with inline filter: 455PPM @62F
RO Waste line: 566PPM @91F (RO system is kept in garage on top of hot water tank like my old system) Drain into kitchen sink for now.
Nestle Purelife 16.9oz water bottle: 54PPM @54F (says the water can come from a few CA sources)
Here is the system I have that is only like 30 days old @ around 100 gallons through it so far if I were to guess. I will keep checking to see if readings start to go up periodically.
Here is my system hooked up, there is no PSI gauge, inline meters, which I didn't need. The replacement filters come in housings and are not too bad in price. I don't know if the heat will lower the life of the filters much or at all.
I got a second DI filter for $6 just in case my output readings were high, but I am pleased I am at ZERO right off that bat. I have tried to measure the output when filling a 5 gallon bucket and it seems spot on.
I was wondering if anyone else has used these and has long road information. I will try to keep this updated with my findings too.
