1/2" red mantis in OKC looking for new home

Hi. I live in the Oklahoma City area. I found a very small (juvenile, I guess) dark red mantis shrimp who hitched on a fan sponge I bought at a LFS about 6 weeks ago. He must have been hiding out on the small rock that the sponge was attached to. Luckily, I spotted him while he was still in the bag acclimating. I sucked him out with a turkey baster and put him in my 10 gal qt tank.... and there he has lived for the past 6 weeks with a small pile of LR rubble, a couple of small pieces of LR, and a small amount of macro. I've been feeding him frozen mysis every other day or so and there are some pods in there too. I have never seen him eat - but he must be eating something? I have no idea what kind he is, but he's cute! He's very small - only 1/2" right now, dark red in color. He is reclusive, but does come out into view more often now that he is more used to his surroundings. He likes to rearrange the rubble to make little caves to hang out in. He likes to play with the macro. ..... and sometimes he takes a swim around the tank even. I am looking for a new home for him. I am going to need my qt tank next week. I thought about setting up a 5 gallon tank that I have hanging around, but seahorses are my thing - and I have PLENTY of tanks to take care of as it is. I like him alot, but? Is there anyone in the OKC area who would like him as a pet? He is free to a good home. Thanks!

Had you posted this yesterday, I would have brought it home on a plane yesterday :)

I am sure a few takers will pop in.

Good luck.

Well, Darn!! That would have been great! It's been hard for me to decide what to do, seeing as I like him so much. But I finally came to the decision to let him go to someone else, so I can concentrate more on seahorses.

I think he has found a home, and if it doesn't work out - there are 2 others interested as well.

Thanks everybody for your interest, and Thanks for the Welcome!!

Karen

If the other three don't work, I'll pay for shipping to 08807 :D Just saying. It's been hard to snap up these small mantis lately!
