1/4 inch metal mesh?

I've search locally for 1/4" plastic mesh and cannot find it at any home center or garden center. I did find 1/4" galvanized metal mesh. can I use it to cover a tank?

The metal is not going to be a good idea. It will not react well should it get into the tank and probably wont last long near saltwater.

I purchased some a while back from a reefer selling excess that he had after he purchased the required amount from a vendor.

You might want to try and find the product and do a group buy !

Check out the aisle in HD or Loews that has gutter guards. Thats where I get mine.

pond section, its called bird netting ( to keep birds from stealing your koi)

I used light diffuser panels for mine. It's in the section where they have lighting for a suspended ceiling.

plastic mesh is in the garden section. very easy to make window screens to fit your tank opening .. using the plastic mesh.

Egg crate and the bird netting I've found all have larger openings than a 1/4 of an inch. From reading here, for wrasse and jawfish they are too big a holes and the fish can get through, I've read I need 1/4" or smaller.

You can use more than one piece of the bird netting and just stagger the pattern on the second piece. you keep doing this until you have the size you need.
