1 Clown lost to drain, replace or not?

Okay so long story short, I broke down my tank and had it drilled and reset everything back up. I was running the system at roughly only 150gph and the drain pipe was exposed... somehow my larger 5yr old female clown was lost to it while I was building an overflow. I received the pair of clowns for free and was told that the clown I still have was not the original male but that the previous owner had lost the male 2 yrs ago. So here's my question, as far as I know my male clown had been with this female for 2 yrs and had not mated. I'm assuming that this male is just over two years old and was wondering if it would be acceptable to add another clown or should I just try to find him a home and buy another pair(s). He seems quite happy in his new rbta and she used to pick on him a ton so I feel bad about displacing him after losing his abusing wife :P Also, would it be safe to add a different type of clown pair, say black/white ... the male I have is I believe a false percula (I'll take a pic. and post another thread or just take it with me to the LFS). Thanks guys.
