has anyone come up with a way to top off with Kalk mix a tank that uses about .5-1g a day?

a slow drip odesw not work, because the kalk clogs up in the lines, and buy the time i take it apart, clean it out, i might as well have just added the water!

it can be gravity fed, would prefer not to add another pump!

i've got an 18 gallon rubber made. drilled the bottom for a john guest fitting and that runs to a float valve. clogs up once every couple months. but other than that it works perfect. hope that helps ya.

do you have a link to the float and how are you putting the fitting in the tupperware?

I tried a number of things on my last system and kalk always clogged the lines somehow some way.

The only thing I ever found that worked consistantly was the Aqua Medic SP3000 dosing pump. Since it pumped by "kneading" the line it would never clog or back up and if the end of the hose where the kalk comes out did clog the SP3000 was strong enough to push right through it.

An expensive pump, but then again everything that is right in this hobby is expensive.

and then in between I just ran normal airline hosing. also, I wouldn't drill the hole all the way on the bottom. I'd say like 1/4-1/2 inch up. that way all the extra kalk powder on the bottom doesn't run through the line. it won't dissolve in salt water.

I did that too.
The float valve quickly gets clogged with kalk paste.

mine only gets clogged once every couple months. and i'll I've gotta do to unclog it is shake the airline tubing a little. don't know what i'm doing diffarent then you. maybe I just have good luck? 1 tsp of kalk per gal of rodi. mix it. dump it in the containter. done.

I was using 2 tsp per gallon so that could have been the difference.

Do any of you use a sediment filter in your kalk lines, or do you just let all the impurities go into the tank?

just let it go in...but I've got the hole drilled about 1/2" off the bottom so most of the access kalk settles on the bottom and doesn't get sucked down the tube.
