1" wall thickness with wavebox?

I'm setting up a 10' x 4' x 3' reef with 1" wall thickness. I'd like to use a wavebox with one extension, however the magnets are rated at .74", do you have stronger magnets or other solution? thanks

Unfortunately we don't have a magnet holder for the wavebox for anything thicker than 3/4". Your tank is about 900 gallons and would likely need 2 extensions. You could use the older rail mounts possibly, the other option would be 2 6508 masterstreams, these could be pulsed to create a wave with the 7092 or 7096. I assume the tank is acrylic and perimeter braced so you would need to drill the bracing for either the masterstreams or the waveboxes with rail holders.

could I possibly secure the wavebox/extensions with more powerful magnets from another manufacturer? why would Tunze offer the wavebox with up to three extensions for large applications and not provide a way to secure them to large tanks with required wall thickness?

Strong magnets are very dangerous, it is not impossible to make such magnets but the demand is very low and they pose a risk to fingers of course but also pacemaker users. Given experience with strong magnets we don't make them in such extreme strengths. We offer the rail holders for these large installs and most large aquarium owners/ large public aquaria are used to the custom nature of working on such set ups. It may be possible to find or make a magnet but rare earth magnets are difficult to waterproof sufficiently for long term saltwater exposure and the rails would likely be the best bet.

can the waveboxes be externally mounted by drilling holes for the pumps and permanently gluing the boxes to the exterior tank wall?

ok, but if I built one externally and used your pump/controller it should work? would be nice if I could build an external box the size of 3 Tunze waveboxes and use one of your larger dc pumps to run it? would your wavebox controller work on your larger dc pumps?

The wavebox controller can run any of our controllable pumps, howvere the wavebox pump is already the biggest offered, without going to a MasterStream 6508, there is nothing bigger.

will the wavebox pump (which model is it?) work if I build an exterior wavebox the size of 3 Tunze waveboxes (equivalent to a wavebox with two extensions)? btw, Kingsley from Aquarium Arts in Phoenix says hi, I bought my tank from him

With three of the pumps it would work, the pump in a wavebox is basically a mutt, it has the performance of a 6305 but the lighter duty power supply and motor of a 6105 as it is not run continuously and never reaches the full load with the rapid on and off cycles.

Yes, they would be special order, but it can be arranged, you would need 3 6215.200 and 3 6105.240 and either the 7092 or 7096 and a 7092.340 branch adapter (both controllers only have 2 wavebox hookups).

do the pumps come with the protective plastic grating to prevent livestock from entering the pump outlets, or can I order these too?

They come with them, we have the controllers, power supplies and branch adapters, the backlog is on pumps.

I would guess 4 weeks. Honestly it would be the same though for Waveboxes or 6305, these are all products with long backorder lists since Christmas.
