10 gallon internal overflow height?

I've decided to start a 10 gallon nano pest (aiptasia, majano, mantis, etc.) tank. I am going to do a internal overflow, but I dont know how high I should make it. Any ideas?

do you mean you're drilliing the tank, and then having the overflow actually glued around the holes? or do you mean you're getting an overflow box? (i would consider that external tho..)

anyways, you want the teeth leve/ w/the water level...that way the water will fall in when its at the teeth level, and once it gets below that, it will stop flowing over.

It'll be a box inside the tank that has a powerhead in it. The water will flow over the top and be returned to the tank via the powerhead. I'm trying to figure out how tall it needs to be in order to have the water line not visable, but not overflow the tank. Oh and its going to be toothless so there is better surface skimming.

I dont understand...you're just putting a powerhead in it to return the water back to the tank, and not actually having the overflow go to a sump or something? whats the purpose of the overflow? why not just put the powerhead in the main tank? same function...or is this just to hide the powerhead?

I agree...whats the piont. I guesss it would make the surface cleaner if thats what your intent is.

I've been thinking about the same thing for a 10g at my office. I thought of using the black PVC pipe in one of the corners. Since that stuff is pretty cheap I figured I would just play with it to find the correct height. I thought I would tape it in place with painters tape and do wet runs with tap water until I found the right height. Again since it is cheap this test piece would be used as a template for the final piece once the height and slot arrangement is determined.

That make sense?
