10 gallon nano, what kind of clowns and anemone

Krazy

In Memoriam
I've got my 10 gallon nano running, 10lbs live sand, and about 3-4lbs of live rock, I am going to add more rock tonight from my 72 bow front and maybe a cup of the live sand from it as well...

I want a pair of clowns, a blenny and maybe a goby or something small in that nature...

What pair of clowns would you suggest ? and also what kind of anemone for them to possibly host ? (anemone wont be added for sometime yet)

I have the 96 watt coralife fixture over the tank with an ac-70 filter (hob fuge conversion soon)

Suggestions please :)

As an anemone and nano guy, I must agree: none suitable.

There are some small anemones, Tulips, S. tapetum, etc. that may be suitable if you focus the tank conditions on them.

as a nano and clown guy,

you can keep a bta and pair of percs. ive done it for 1.5 yrs and counting.

this is with weekly water changes. i have them under a 70 wt mh.

my wife has a 10gal with a bta and pair of clowns. She added the bta about 7 months ago and it's getting time to pull the anemone.

I would only recommend A. percula. They don't need an anemone but if you are set on one get a BTA and be prepared to have to cut it in half regularly. I would certainly not add any other fish.

yikes embro! lol when you do water changes does the bta peek out of the water?

looks good though. neat that you can see its foot like that

Wait, so you can cut them in half when they get too big? Like fragging coral? How does that work?

You can cut BTAs right in half. Cut through the mouth and be as clean as possible one clean slice is best. If/when you get to the point of doing so search on it there are a lot of discussions about this. No one argues that it doesn't work but some don't like the idea of propogating anemones this way. Anthony Calfo is one of the first to propose using a scalpel to manually propogate anemones.

tourkid

well that pic was when it was still settling in. its foot has since moved under the rock and now only its tentcls are exposed.

Thanks for this info, I'll read up on it more! If this is something that can humanely be done it will open up a lot of options for me. I could just give the other half away and keep a small anemone.

Very true, I went to a meeting today and had the pleasure of meeting Anthony Calfo, He personally showed the group how to proprgate the anemone....

Just like you said a clean slice right in have with an exacto knife will do the trick, make sure you'r doing this to a settled in, established, healthy anemone, Anthony says within 2 days you'll never know it was cut !! :)
