I have PC 2-65watt 12,000k and 2-65watt actinic
How would you set your timers if you had the same lights?

I'd also like to say that I really appreciate the people that helped me out but I can't say enough about DrBDC
Not only did he load me up!, but his kids, wife, even fish were super cool! I'll payback the favor soon! Don't worry!
Plus, we'll have to do the wings and ribs!

Speaking of which, if I ordered a "large" bubble coral, would it be possible to cut a portion and basically split it? If so, is there a good set of directions for this...DrBDC, I'll leave this up to you. I want to help you out!

On the activities someone suggested DIY stuff. Awesome idea! What about how to do a full retro. The most I understand about retro is that I have to do it myself and I don't understand it at ALL! That would be a great one.

If I bought the "stuff" to build a 48" fixture for metal halides, what would I all need? Would it be that much less expensive than buying a plug & go fixture?I want 300watt or more? Do I just need halides or do I also need pc, t5, etc... with them? I see a lot with combos? Would someone be willing to help me with them in about 6 months or so? Or should I just ask then?

To all the people who have helped me getting started, I will be posting pics of my tank tomm!

How long does it generally take to get all the rocks covered in purple, green, etc... algae?

Does anyone have either a very inexpensive refractometer for sale? I would like to get one but for right now I'm having to settle using 2 hydrometers. They actually seem to be doing pretty good but everyone has told me to get a refractometer. I'm also looking for a 1/2"x1/2" male to male threaded coupler. Must be plastic or nylon.

I think my nurse shark is getting too big for my 20 gallon tank? Is this common?

How many of the people on here use Ebay?

- I would have both come on and turn off at the same time for a 10-12 hr photo period, but I'm lazy.

-don't know

#8
-get a refrctometer cheap off of ebay, or at a very minimum check your hydrometers against someone's refractometer

-I use it all the time, you can get a bunch of stuff much cheaper there

#1. I would bring my actinics on 30 minutes before the 12Ks and off 30 minutes after. Total photoperiod of 8-10 hours.

#2. A. Calfo says you can cut an anemone right down the center and have 2 healthy anemones. Make sure you cut the mouth exactly in half. Never done it, just quoting the man. ;)

#4. Talk to Jason (or anyone) at Premium Aquatics.

#5. Let it go or PM someone. Please don't bring it up here b/c you're not helping him.

#8. Check the selling forum. People don't usually get rid of these unless they're getting out of the hobby. You can get a new one for about $45

#9. No, this is most unusual. They usually grow to the size of their environment. What are you feeding it?

First half of this post:

1-My actinics are on at 9am off at 11:30, my mh's are on at 12 off at 9:30. You may be able to extend the daylight bulb longer than my mh's are on but keep an eye out for algae growth.

2-You're welcome and I could use some good wings! :D

3-DIY is easier than it sounds on almost everything once you see it the first time being done. Plenty of help around to come over and give you hand. It may take a week or so to match up with schedules but there's always help.

4- You already have the pc's and can always swap that out later for some vho's or t-5 to supplement the mh's. On the mh's, you need 2 ballasts, 2 reflector sockets, and some wire if they don't come with long enough wires already. 2 bulbs. Maybe a couple plugs. Easy as can be and refer to #3.

5-??

I don't think you understand what you're getting into with my wings! Let me know a weekend the kids and angie want to get together at a park or whatnot. Valasis or castlewood, etc...
I'll let you mess with the bubble coral with cutting it.
