I had another thread going about this, but for some reason I can't post anything new on that thread.
Here is a link to the original thread...

This one is really interesting.

It is growing on the back of a snail.

And here is the one fish in the tank.

I currently am having a time keeping the banana shaped bubble algae in control, but I am removing it by hand for now.

The fish that is in the tank is quite aggressive so he will most likely be coming out so I can get some firefish, gobies, etc. in the tank.

No dosing so far. I do a 10 water change once a month. With the limited bioload, water changes have not been necessary yet but I do them anyway. I have not done any testing other than pH, alk, calcium, nitrate, phosphate.

Substrate looks like onyx sand - think seachem makes it maybe?

Love the sargassum, I have had it come in as a hitchiker, bloom mightily then fade away almost as fast never to return.

4 X 96 watt 6500K PC's.
It is gray sand from Seachem.
The sargassum has been growing at an astounding rate. Around 3" per day. I keep trimming it though, and it has little balls all over it. What are they?

Yep the little balls are air bladders, they keep the plant up, and I suspect may also help it to spread itself around when a piece breaks off. Its funny how the mermaids cup grows on the snails. I had the same situation. Once it died back I never saw it again.

Is that the neck of a glass bottle in the picture with the fish?
Does it serve a specific purpose?

It gives the tank a more natural look, you must've missed Paul B's 35 year old reef thread.

Yes. That is the neck of a bottle in there. I just think it looks kinda cool. You know the ocean is full of stuff that shouldn't be in there...why not in a tank?
