Went into my office this morning and noticed my male extreme Davinci was not by his mate...

Looked all over. Couldn't find him...

Looked on the floor and there he was mummified.

Appreciate it.

No its a rimless cube... Never had a clown jump before.

I'm assuming he got into something while sleeping and freaked. He was there last night when I left.

I learned the hard way with clowns.I also have a rimless and didn't want to use a screen top, didn't think clowns were jumpers. They are if they are getting chased. What other fish do you have in the tank?

Just a small yellow clown goby that perches on a sponge and orchid dotty-back that hangs out in the rock all the time.

I have never had a lid on any of my tanks.. I have had wrasses, fire fish, gobies, blennies, and other notorious jumpers without a single loss. I'm sure my luck will run out sometime.......

Anemonefish are at high risk when they don't have an anemone or a suitable surrogate host/home like a coral or ceramic flowerpot.
Without such they often like to hang out in corners near the waterline, which makes them high risk.

On the other hand, with the right anemone the likelihood of clowns to jump is near zero as they will rather dive into the anemone than flee upward.

Before my first percula pair got their gigantea the male was always hanging out in a rather dangerous spot, and every morning I checked if he was still there.
Now, that they have a gig, they hardly ever lose contact with it. At many times you just see their faces peeking out. If they ever venture out, the most distance they go is about one body length.
My other two pairs with giganteas behave the same.
The one pair that is so far without anemone wanders restless through the tank and sleeps at night under a half dead birdsnest coral.

I new there was always a possibility, but I've never had a jumper since I've been in.

First time for everything. Sucks it was my favorite.

Now the female just wanders. Hope to get her another companion and have her accept him...

Thanks guys!

Appreciate the kind words guys.

One on my tanks is a small Aqueon 15 gallon nano with the slim plastic top I installed DIY LED's in. So nothing to worry about there.

My 36 bow has a glass top I installed to help with evap. ^Same

My 45 standard has a canopy I made. ^Same

I have 3 tanks rimless/frameless. 60 cube, 28 cube and a ~26 shallow that's in the works. (The one I'm most worried about now...)

The jumper was in the 28... Guess that's the risk you take.
