"When in doubt, leave it out"
If you're really struggling to reassure yourself whether it's safe our not, why risk it? Just get some silicone that is for aquarium use.
Lowes, and other hardware stores I'm sure, carry aquarium silicone. In my case I looked at every single tube of silicone in the caulking section of Lowes, and it seemed every one had "Not suitable for aquarium use" written somewhere in fine print. After giving up and planning to just order some, I strolled around the store, stumbling into the adhesive/glue section....this is where they keep the aquarium silicone at Lowes. *$#@ers! Why they keep the aquarium silicone with the adhesives instead of the silicone I don't know.
good point. dome hepot is the samr way. note. "GE's atvantage" is 100% silicone. no bio anything. it has the above ingredients i mentioned in the earlier post.. forgot where i purchased it...
