Well, after a short break, I think I might have to get back in. Sold my previous setup because I didn't think I had the time to keep up with it and to fund a certain something. Now that is done with, I'm gonna mess around a bit with a new project. :)

First off, what I had to fund:

She said yes!

Going to use a ten gallon tank that I took the rim off of. Im going to petition it off using a piece of acrylic. That way there will be a display tank and back filtration system. I cut the piece of acrylic and painted it. Will post pics when I get it installed.

Not sure exactly what I am going to do for lighting. The idea was to keep it just zoas so maybe a couple strips of LEDs. We'll see. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Congrats on the engagement and welcome back! Its hard to stay out of this hobby for long.

If you're wanting LEDs, you could either do a small DIY pendent which would kick *** over a tank like that. Or you could give some of the nicer PAR bulbs a shot. Those were what I was considering to go over mine before I settled on MH.

I have heard/seen that the pendants are pretty sweet. Cost about $100 per unit though. I thought about making a small stand fixture/canopy for this thing and putting some LED strips in the canopy.

Scratch the rimless idea. Too many accounts of fail on these projects. Gonna go pick up a ten gallon with the rim on. Get back with some pictures later.

Petco is doing there 1 dollar gallon sale til the 16th I believe. I need to make my way there to pic one up for a frag tank.

Thanks everyone!

Painted the back of the tank today. May change plans a bit. Im wanting to make this tank operable on its own so Im going to add an ATO to it. Trying to figure out a way to hide it in the tank though. Have a few options and will post pics when I finally figure it out.

Congrats!

Here is what I am running on my little 10 here at work.

I have a half a large PVC pipe cut for my overflow. I just use it to pile up the rock on.

Lighting wise, here is what I started out with, with is actually the growth from the above photo.

Here is what I upgraded to,

That said, I have been pondering a LED setup, but I will probably wait until I get the LEDs set up over my big tank at home.

All and all, congrats and welcome back to the addiction!

lol

Cool setup!

Im not going to plumb this tank. Just going to run a small hob filter with some carbon and/or phosphate material. I will have an ATO on the tank too. Plan to paint it all black to that it will blend in nicely with the background.

Received some of the lights yesterday, hopefully the rest today. Should have sand, rock and water in tonight! YAY!!! lol

My little 10g from 2005. Maybe I should start it up again. I think I still have everything.

Can't wait to see yours up and running Josh.

Good stuff man!

Yeah, I am still using a HOB filter with the draw at the bottom of the overflow. I am still trying to remember why I created the overflow, I think I did it to skim the top of the water.
