10g Build

a penguin bio wheel 150 with the bio wheel taken out and a whisper 10 with a surface skimmer mod. i dont think im going to need much more flow because this tank is going to be mushroom dominated!!!

After your clown matures and turns into a female she'll turn a firefish into carpet jerky.

Pretty much the only fish that can survive the confines of a ten gallon tank with a female clown is a male clown. And that's if she doesn't kill him before they pair up.

I took a bio wheel out from my 30 gallon eclipse....was told it holds nitrates....this is my 8th year with the system and tank is still clean and healthy.
Jarred1-went to fish2go.com.....I will give them a try.

yeah that's why i haven't added any other fish. do you think i'd be able to get away with a yellow watchman goby or a clown goby?

awww! too cute!

i use the float arm thing to test my salinity and i go the the LFS for them to use the refractometer on my water to see what it is really at. go to that site i told you and look under members aquariums and there a plenty of sump less 10g's there. I waited 6 weeks as well to add my first fish and i think im only going to add a fire fish now.
can you pm me the site too plz? i'm always looking for ideas!

cut the hole with a little knife, i cut the pill bottle bottom larger than the top of the cap.

then i cut 2 slits on both sides of the intake to the filter.

to get the slits i had to heat up a piece of metal to burn the slits in because when i tried to cut the slits in it would just crack the bottle. be careful messing with the sides of the bottles because the crack very easy

Agu, what would you suggest for a 10 gallon ?

First a disclaimer, I have two ten gallon tanks both with only clownfish pairs.

I made the mistake years ago of trying other fish with clownfish. Do you notice I only have clownfish pairs? IMHO your only option in a ten gallon is to pair up your clownfish. Any other fish in a mama clown tank is an interloper and will be harrassed to death, (as will my hand if I dare put it in her tank ) .

I don't say this as a negative thing though. The interaction of the pair is interesting to watch and there is constant activity in the tank.

I had a pair of clowns in my 30 gallon for 6 years. They were great to watch....

Well, my birthday was this week, and my 2 boys just walked in an hour ago....they wanted to surprise me & put in my 20 gallon reef tank a firefish, few hermits and a brittle starfish... I am coping the best I can as I know they meant well....but I fear a disaster come morning without acclimation... ...the tank has been fishless for 9 months....water from the LFS bags did not go into the tank at least...
I found the star a bit too cozy with my cucumber up on the side glass within minutes- looked as if it was clinging to it....will the star try to eat it?
Now I am very anxious....have no clue where the firefish went...but he was pretty.
I really don't want the star .....had one for 6 years(12 inches stretched) but it wasn't a brittle....but he grew with the tank...this one seems matured.
Any ideas? The tank might be compromised if the brittle dies...

when i had my first fire fish it hid for a few days and wouldn't come out of his hole unless there was food. i know nothing about starfish sorry. as for acclimation it should be fine its just going to be a bit more stressed but don't trust every thing i say because im still new to this hobby.
