10g nanoo with built in sumps

This is in the back of my 15G long. The design has changed only slightly but this is more or less how it is working now. It's a sheet of acrylic that has been cut to fit into the back as a false wall. It will house all of my equipment and leave room for a fuge/chaeto algae area.

I guess it's not a true sump, but i'm not quite sure what you mean by built in sump.

Overflow is cut into the middle, above the beer. Maxijet's are on both sides (only one shown) and chaeto/LR/LS is where the beer is.

Not necessarily an ideal set up in ever single aspect, but IMO is great for a smaller tank with all the components integrated.

I think I'm going to go with two maxi-jet 900's.

One on either side. I'm not sure, but I may want to add another hole or to for more output nozzle locations.

I couldn't easily find black acrylic so I painted this stuff with Krylon Fusion.

I did a test run with the pumps I had laying around, a MJ1200 and MJ400.

The 1200 was a great amount of flow, yet I'm getting worried about the heat it puts out, hence the 2 x 900's.

My 10-gallon has a dual set of AC70's on the back, one as a fuge and one as a spare filled with live rubble. This provides a lot of flow while also serving as a hang on the back addition.

Let me go take a photo or two.

While not a "built in sump" this is about as close as I want to get without decreasing the size too much.

This is my prototype 'surface skimmer' for the AC70. Before surface scum problem, after not so much. I'll probably make another with a better teeth / dremel job later.

My experimental / spare 10-gallon tank. I'm culturing some base rock rubble and larger pieces, I guess.

mmm very nice, i think i am gonna try the one maxi 1200 as my only flow. I am pretty sure that shoudl be enough flow. if it isnt i will ajsut as possible. Wat type of lights do you guys have on your tnaks??

My tank will have 150W MH HQI and at least 48W T5. I have 22" T5 bulbs that fit well over the 10G tanks. If you can I would recommend those.

The PC's work well too, really depends on what you want to keep in there.. but I think you know that already.

yeah i have t5s on my 55g and everythign grows well under them including clams, so t5s is wat i iwll be getting i wasnt sure if they made bulbs that small
