10g sps nano

I hope everyone enjoys the rebirth of my 10g nano (I had one setup for the nanoreef contest however a falling powerhead killed several corals ). Here are some current specs:

Lighting
Modded 150watt Coralife hang-on HQI system w/ Ushio 14K bulb. The brackets that originally held the unit to the aquarium broke so I had to turn it into a hanging pendants.

Water movement
Seio 620

Liverock
10lbs Totoka liverock

Livesand
.5-1" sugar-grain sand

After the holidays I should be upgrading the seio to the new Tunze nanostream with a single controller 7091. I will also be adding a Tunze Nano Reefpack 200.

Water evaporation will involve a fw drip system that I will be adding within the next few days. Once I add my sps frags it will double as a kalk drip. This weekend I am hoping to pick up some nice frags at the FRAG auction if the water tests well on friday. Everything was cycled before adding it to the 10g so I am hoping for either no or a mini cycle. Here is to wishing :lol:

BTW if anyone knows is the outer magnet on the Tunze saltwater safe? The reefpack is going to take up some room in the system so I was wondering if I couldn't just fix the nanostream to the side of the filter.

looks awesome cody! i think if you get the tunze nanostream though,that it will be just too much flow for a sand bed tank.

As far as I know the nanostream is controllable (the 6025 box my lfs had said it was) so I am going to throttle it back some). So why replace my current pump if I am just going to throttle the other bacK? My biggest reason is that the nanostream is MUCH smaller than the seio, it comes with a magnet, and I enjoy buying new things Here are some pics from today, they are much clearer.

The 6025's are not controllable. Only the 6055's are.

im telling you, if you get a tunze nano 6025, say bye bye to the sand...

i had mine in a 10 gallon with about 7 gallons for a few days to break it in, and woah, it was a hurricane in there

dude the 6055a
at its slowest is to fast and you will spend 275 dollars if you want more flow lose the sand before its too late
the 6055 is 1400 gph it would spray water out of your 10

I was not aware that it was 1400gph, silly me Well I am dead set on keeping the sand however the seio is too large (and to be honest isn't putting out much flow). I want to keep the clean look so does anyone have any recommendations on water movement?

Ok I picked up this birdsnest from the lfs I work at. It arived in poor condition however over the past month it really made a comeback so I bought it. Hopfully over the next month it will improve even more!

$260 bucks, and thank u and drummereef for the kind words I am still debating whether to do frags or small colonies. The frags would take longer to fill in however colonies do not grow as fast. It would be interesting to see at what point a frag's growth rate would increase its size to that of a wild or maricultured colony.

great start but from my homework being done and I too just started a driled 20 tall with a sump/fuge is to let the tank get mature before ading in the sps.....give it at least a 2-3 months but then again it's just my opinion.... i am doing amixed sps reef wtih zos and ricordas..

I have never needed a heater (Arizona is hot lol). The lowest temp my thermometer has read is 76F. If anything I need a chiller

I want a halide so much! Every time I see how bright tanks with halide's are it bugs me, but they cost enough.
