Update

Update

Ok guys, here is an update:

My bro and I got the tank mostly set up w/ sand and rock. I couldn't set up the chiller, so I rigged up the closed loop so that when I get the fittings for the chiller, I can just hook the chiller up. The plumbing doesn't look great, but it will be more concealed when the chiller is sitting there. Also, we figured out how to hang the pendant. It's not permanent, it will eventually hang from the ceiling.

Anyways, here are the pics:

Right side: (In order to hold down the light stand, I had to put the ballast and two 5lbs. weights on it)

Sump: (Fission skimmer, 50 watt heater, ph probe, temp probe, will have chaeto tomorow probably)

Theres about a 1/2" of fiji pink sand, and I seeded it with some sand from my bro's 40 gallon. I don't know what you guys think about the aquascaping, but it looks pretty sick in person. Not bad I must say, for a first time. :D

Now, I play the waiting game. There won't be much of a cycle because the rock is cooked, but I will probably have to wait about 2 weeks.

Thanks.

Thanks guys!

The noise is not that bad at all. The stockman is very quiet, which it has to be because it's in my bedroom. lol.

I figured out a way to mount the aquadosers. Yes, it is a little bit ghetto, but hopefully it will work. :P

Thanks. :)

I just tested the parameters, and ammonia is 0, nitrites are 0, and nitrates are .2

How can they be this good only two days in? I did use cooked rock, and sand seeded with some from my bro's tank. Maybe there won't be much of a cycle?

Also, I took one of the dosers off, and I am just using one for a drip ATO until I get a float valve for the sump.

I dont think its uncommon to have little to no cycle with cooked rock and sand from an established tank. ---correct me if im wrong :)

Btw your lights are sick.

Your levels sound about right. I'd give it another week or two, just to be safe. There is a possibility of a "mini cycle", but unlikely. (no reason in rushing this part)

DUMB QUESTION: Is that AquaDose held up with a tac???

That's exactly what I'm thinking right now alien. Last night, I fed the tank a little bit of brine, so maybe some decaying matter will kick start the cycle.

Your right Mike, I'm going to wait a week or so, and then I will slowly start adding the clean up crew. The doser was held up by a tac, but it wasn't strong enough, so I replaced it with a nail.

Thanks guys!

Thanks levine and djreck!

Dmiles, I was going to use the aquadosers for B-Ionic two part, but the dosers just can't drip slow enough to add the right amount. I am not using one for ATO until I can get a float switch.
