110 Gallon Soft Coral Reef

Wanted to post a FTS and give a quick update.

The sinularia is doing great, Im getting excellent polyp extension throughout the daylight cycle and then it closes up tight when the lights start to dim.
Added a CUC, mostly snails a few emeralds and a banded coral shrimp. The BCS is on the hit list after pinching a little bit off my royal gramma's tail but other than that so far so good. Parameters remain stable and overall I am pleased with how this young tank is progressing. My water change system is fantastic and I have done 3 water changes in the last couple weeks, I will post a video of my system at work at some point.
Finally my second fish is in the tank, It is a Foxface Lo instead of a One-spot fox face like I requested, there was a mix up at the LFS but it shouldn't be a big deal, ill surely have a larger tank going before he outgrows the 110.
I am going to pick up some frags from a local reef club member tomorrow and am excited to keep things rolling.
I added two new Jaebo RW-8s and am impressed with the increased flow throughout the tank as well as the ease of operation... eco-tech could learn a thing or two about ease of use from jaebo lol. Waiting on carbon reactor in the mail and will get that installed early next week. Here is a FTS in the meantime.

I like the rock work! Nice equipment too! Can't wait to see the video on how you do your water changes. I'd like to find an easier way to do water changes, that's for sure.

Where do you usually buy your corals at?

They absolute best place to get corals is through local club members, if you can find a local club and make connections you will always get the best price and often best quality there. For instance i spent $200 at a club members house raiding his frag tank, had I bought those same corals from a store I would have spent probably between $400-$500. When I do buy from a store I always go through Live Aquaria online, specifically divers den wysiwyg section. Occasionally I will order through live aquaria from ORA if there is something I want that is not showing up on Divers Den.

Well luck finally ran out and I brought ich and velvet into the system, moved the fish into an impromptu QT in my office and am treating with copper. Tank will remain fallow until Feb. In the meantime I decided enough is enough and am in the process of converting a storage room in my garage into a QT and Propagation room. Had the HVAC guys out on monday and tied the room into the houses heating and cooling. I ran 2 dedicated 20 amp circuits and have placed a utility sink and some shelving units in the new fish room. Project this weekend is to paint and seal the shelves, and bust through the wall to tie the sink into the washer hookups and drain. Right shelf will have 2 20 long tanks one for fish one for inverts as QT. Left shelf will have 2 40 breeders and a shared sump, one for SPS and one for LPS and Softies. Down the road this system will have a dedicated RODI unit and mixing station. Will wait to get the 40 breeders until petco has their next $1/gallon sale.

That is gonna be sweet! Sorry about the disease catching up to you. I just bought 3 fish from LA and put them into my DT yesterday. I've got to catch my Cherub Angel and put him in time out in the sump before he stresses my new fish to death and makes all kinds of diseases crop up. :hammer: Making a bottle trap in the morning.

I just absolutely can not have a second tank in my current situation. So I'm gambling.

I was pretty much in the same boat, I hate looking at the bareness and equipment of a QT, to me its just ugly, I want my tanks to be displays and presentable which is why I was reluctant to set up a QT again after the move. You can get lucky for a long time and then one bad fish just wrecks it. Good luck catching the cherub

I got the first tank in and set up, it's the fish qt obviously. Also have been busy ordering stuff for the invert qt and frag system, gonna be an in boxing party next week.

I have those shelves. I would paint them and screw a 1x4 on the underside. Mine have started to sag with weight on them (not even close to the max) because they are close to some moisture.

EDIT:
Nice house, cute kids, great tank. That stand is beautiful!

thanks for the tip, I have some 1x4 lying around i'll probably do that. I decided to flex seal them instead of painting. so far I have only done the shelf with the tank on it, ill get to the rest but it takes a can to do a shelf and they cost $12 each. Thank you for all of the compliments!

FlexSeal is unecessary and very expensive for your job.
Just go get a can of decent laytex paint and it will do the job great, just make sure you get ALL of it covered.
