Isn't it crazy how much 12 days difference in fry makes? This is my last guy left from batch 1 (16-17DPH) and larvae from batch 2 (4-5DPH). I wish I had a macro lense....





I have over 50 left from batch 2. I lost about half of batch two due to trying to use too small a larval tank. Haven't lost any more since that transition to the larger tank in with Nemo.

BTW - in effort to be consistent with others, how do you count 'days post hatch'? Is the 1st day after hatch night 0DPH? or 1DPH?

yes it is amazing. But in another 12 days they will be about 3 times bigger.

Batch 2 went through meta this weekend. One or two stragglers still remain, but overall, they are starting to color up and look like little fishies! Pretty exciting. I'm also starting to see what I believe may be a few snowflake patterns emerging!

This is a quick phone pic taken yesterday morning of a small grouping in the corner along with the older brother who is 12 days older.

A light fell in the fry tank and 'fried' my fry thanks to my 3 year old. VERY disappointed... They were eating prepared foods and well on thier way. They seemed okay at first, but then dropped off one by one. A month of work - wasted. I gained some good experience though...

Which is a good riminder that if you have little ones BE VERY MINDFUL of what you leave in arms reach of them!! I am very grateful that my little man was not hurt!!

Thanks. Most were between 3/8 and 1/2" with all stripes developed - several snowflake patterns that would have been 'black ice'. They were getting really cute! It was kind of heartbreaking. Not as big a deal when they are little tadpoles, but when they are that developed, it really sucks.

Hopefully I'll be able to try again soon... and take more safety precautions this time!
