12 gallon JBJ nanocube CRACKED!

Well, I woke up this morning to some strange noises coming from my 12 gallon JBJ only to discover about 2 gallons of water on the carpet. It cracked all the way up the side next to the curve in the front, luckily I got everything out and put it in another tank until I can find another nano tank. I had it on a SLIGHTLY uneven surface, but nothing that concerned me (obviously) and I'm sure if it were an AGA this wouldn't have happened as I've had those on uneven surfaces before with no problems. I'll post some pics of the nano before and after it cracked when I get home from work, but in the meantime I REALLLY need another nano. Please let me know if you have anything and I'd be more than willing to accomodate a more than generous trade for it as I have plenty of live rock and equipment from my 55 gallon teardown. Anybody have any advice on which brand to go with this time instead or should I get another JBJ and buy the stand this time?

Bummer! Make sure your local fish store replaces this tank. If I was closer, I have a 20 l with stand, 10 gallon sump and great lights for sale. I just bought a 12 JBJ last week but will not set it up right away. I have two 24 gallons JBJ with no problems. Try the new Oceanic biotopes at 14 gallons or some of the Finnex M-tanks. i agree with noschmo....get a oceanic tank......new product with supposedly thicker glass.....but at least of it ever has any issues you have a tried and true company standing behind thier product.

sorry to hear that mdisalvo55. I ordered the 12g JBJ nano cube online a week ago from drsfostersmith.com and the whole side was cracked I know how you feel, but hang in there..im sure something will work out for you.

I do not think it is well advised to ever order a glass tank thru the mail. I have 4 nano cubes and have not had any problems., I buy them from local fish stores.

Yup, i agree...but i got a new one today from the mail which wasnt cracked But all of my local fish stores dont carry the nano cube

I've seen the Oceanic cubes and they seem like a VERY solid build. If I ever look to getting another nano, i'd seriously consider the Oceanic cubes over my JbJ.

My four month old NC12DX cracked in the exact same place about a week ago for no reason I could see. It was on a level surface and no rock was touching the glass. Luckily, I was home when it happened and I caught it after about half the water poured out. I ran out and bought a standard 10 gallon and a couple of containers of water from the LFS. I took the sand, rock, heater and MJ900from the NC and put them in the 10. My family likes the look of the 10 better and I am not feeling good about getting another cube, no matter who makes it. The Oceanic looks good, but it's far to new to know how it will fair and I'm just not willing to go through another flood.
