120 gallon wide

I am going to be putting a tank in the wall of my home and I am thinking about a 120gl wide. Does anyone here have one? If so what brands and can you tell me if you are happy with it. I plan on doing this in the next couple of months.

That being said, when I do move to the inwall I will be giving my 75gl RR oceanic to a member for free. This tank was given to me by Dave(DNSHEAVY) so I will be passing it along just as I received it. If anyone might be interested let me now soon so I will not have to worry about what to do with it later. The GF is starting to get annoyed at all of the empty tanks so I do not need to ruin her support of my hobby. The tank has a stand, sump, and canopy. LMK.

Gregg I have a 120 and i love it. I love the width front to back. Your welcome to stop by any time and check it out. Just send me a pm and let me know when/if you want to stop by.

Its my favorite size tank. Here is a pic of my old 120 from 15 years ago... some of those corals are in the tank at AMW.

Its tough to tell from the pic but there is plenty of space between all the rock work and corals, and its because of the width of the tank, you just can't beat having the 24" wide and 48" long. Easy to light as well, its a very efficient "large" tank to run.

I cannot do the 180. I have the GF up to 120 and that is far as she will go. I also would not have to get any new equipment for the 120.

Joe, I like the 24" depth also with the 48" length, I feel it will add alot of depth to the aquascape.

I have the AGA as well, in wall as your planning; another option you may want to look at is the new Marineland series. They are 3 side starphire and are 48x36x27, not sure if you want the extra height but that depth sure is nice.

What mine looked like just before water hit it, re-doing the rock so not much to look at right now.

That is exactly what I am looking to do._ I have the perfect place for it in my livingroom and the gf is incorprating it into her decorating plans. Thanks for the pic it looks great so far

It is a go. Bigsink do you know what the difference between the oceanic ultimate and the tech is? I contacted them but did not receive a resonse.

from what i can see on their website it looks like the ultimate is just their regular tank with a starphire front and polished edges. The Tech tank has the plastic eurobracing and the center overflow. I had never heard of the ultimate until now.

I drilled out the back of my old 120 for a 1.5" pipe, and put in a small overflow box (can't find pic at the moment), but the box was about 8" long and 4" wide and 4" in height and this acrylic box was siliconed up high to the back of the tank. So the overflow pipe came out the back of the tank, but this set up used very little tank space. Many tanks don't need multiple skimmers, infact many home tanks have more skimmer area then a lot of the big display tanks at AMW.
If you can go with a single overflow box, you'll have that much more room in the tank.
Also, when there is room for the plumbing, the return lines can easily be plumbed up and over the top of the tank. IMO too many people get caught up in bringing the return lines up through the bottom of the tank.

I agree joe. I went with a single horizontal overflow and drilled it myself. I lose very little tank space and i love it. Gregg if you click on my little red house you can see my build thread if your looking for ideas.
