120 gallon wide

You can actually see part of the box in my pic above, its black and has some snails on it. It only extends about 4" down, easy to do the rockwork, and leaves both corners free for rockwork. The nice thing about doing the box and bringing the return pipes up and over the tank top is there are no holes in the bottom of the tank for possible leaks. The return pipes are just below the surface as well, so only a small volume of back siphon to your sump so no check valves, etc are needed.

I kept all my return lines at 1" using a Little Giant 5MD from the basement, then at the fittings in the tank, (use a series of 45's instead of 90's to get the pipe into the tank) the pipe was reduced to 3/4" using reducing bushings in the tank, that way you get a good velocity at the tank, while not reducing flow volume if you used small diameter pipe.

yeah, keep the pipe diameter as large as possible for as long as possible, i've even seen some pumps suggest to double the outlet size right off the pump.....

heres my 120 long

nice idea of the in wall tank , once i get a house thats gunna be the way i go and then i can get the black tip reef sharks i want , right now i have a 300 gallon tank with a marble shark and a banded shark , 2 triggers and a puffer , and a red angler fish.but i give you credit , a in wall tank is definately a nicer look.when is the tank being set up?

I am going to start in the next two weeks, I just have to have someone look at the placement and make sure there is no load bearing supports or other obstructions where I am planning it.

Blacktip reef sharks are big, how big of a tank do you plan on keeping them in?
