Ok, what should I do. I heard if you put shimmys under the tank it could hurt the tank and stand in the long run. It is off maybe 1/4 on a inch. Right now it look like only one overflow will fill. Please help
I just setup my 125g it was off almost 1/2". I made my stand with a 2x4 base, I used carpet sample squares 3 side by side the short way. It worked good for me but if you got a store bought stand im not sure you could call the stand manufacture
hope this helps
My son lives in a mobile home that is not level so the last tank he had I ripped a 2x4 down in a long taper from 1/2" down to nothing and used that to level it. That way the stand is fully supported along its whole length.
Ok here is my issue. I just put 5 in the side i wanted to raise it look like it help a little but Im still not going to get flow on one side of the tank. What do you think?
I put the shims all the way along my stand. its bad if you dont shim it completely out because you dont want to distribute the weight unevenly. btw I have a 125.
Different thicknesses of shims should be used, or more accurately you can use the same size shims just insert them further or deeper on the end that needs the most and less on the rest. To suppoort it fully you need shims directly under any vertical supports the stand may have at a minimum.
What he said. I have shims at different levels all the wa accross the bottom of my tank. I'ts only been up two weeks so there are shims sticking out all the way accross the bottom of my tank, it might be overkill, but I didnt spend 4k to watch it burst lol.
