120 starfire HOB upgrade

Thank u so much john. It has cleared up plenty. 90-95 percent as I type this. Been skimming wet all day. And everything looks good so far. Fish ate and most polyps are out. Will post some pics later. Looks like everyone will make it. But watching it like a hawk. Even my new pink tail trigger is there.

okay here it is when the dust settled a bit.

here is what i came up with, this is my camera phone, and the tank was still 90% cloudy i think. but ill take some good photos when i think its closer to 100 percent. also im very happy with the layout, and rock formation, all the stuff in the middle are gsp's that havent opened up yet. there will be a few corals that will find new spots. but im really really diggin it so far.

here you can see my new baby, the mp60 pretty awesome, such a wide flow, and its not even on a quarter of the way up. havent messed with settings and it being connected to the 40 yet. but it is cool to know i can turn it all the way up for even a few seconds and flush my system out of any debris. haha

again id like to thank eric for his help on sat during the tank move, i have one friend that just got into saltwater, but it makes a huge difference when your with someone who knows his stuff and i couldnt have done it without him. tank really is damn near perfect to what i wanted, and will hopefully be able to show it to yall in person soon. (it looks better in person). just a few fish i want to add. and maybe a handfull of sps frags, but really just want to take care of it and watch it keep growing. will update soon as im sure you all already know.

There are only a couple of the tiny frags that don't look well. And a handful of tips on the large green birdsnest and a few on the screaming tree birdsnest damaged in the move . Hopefully they get better before worse. Water is pretty much clear. And the starfire glass is awesome. Feels like u can almost touch everything.

thanks for the thread, reading it for sure. and i went to take my camera camera. but still moving stuff and forgot to bring it to my old place.

Dang P, looks good. I swear many would think that you have been doing this hobby for years, even decades. You make it look to easy bro!

thanks man means alot. there will be some frags that dont make it. but i knew not to expect everything to love the move. between being in a 20 gallon bucket for 2 days, to a big change in water conditions, even acclimated there was to be damage and loss. but im happy with everything so far and will continue to monitor the tank. all fish look great and i actually get attached to them more than corals. corals it sucks more for the growth that they have made. hope to update some more tomorrow.

next up will be to get something a bit more special fish wise. special and or harder to keep to try something else. those moorish idols do look freakin sweet at charlies. maybe an achillies tang ??? anthias for sure later on when everything settles down. just want to top it off with a couple things a bit more special fish wise. then in a couple months get a handfull of different sps frags and be done for a while.

im still ****ed i lost my black n white clowns, and anthias when i messed up by trusting a hydrometer. that really stunk because it was something so stupid. then i brought the salt back down to fast probably. so i do learn the hard way as well. again if everything looks great i might have an unofficial get together soon.

All fish look great. Lost 2 small frags and the big green birdsnest isn't looking hot so I think I'm gonna have to frag it soon. Everything else is good. Moving the last of my stuff today.

P--give the frags a couple of weeks. You would be surprised how much abuse corals can handle. I have seen corals that were thought to be dead come back to full life
And color. They are just stressed out right now. If you haven't seen them produce "slime" yet, that is a good sign.

On the couple of small frags they are gone completely white. No tissue today. 1 inch frags. ill give the birdsnest a day or 2 more don't want to lose the whole thing

The flow works out well. While the 60 pushes most of the water around the 40 can be set higher for more water agitation to keep things cooler and more stable.

Yes they both are. But with moving and work haven't had a chance yet to sync them up and try different thing. Both on constant right now to kinda flush the system out . 40 at half speed. And 60 about a quarter.

big green birdsnest wasnt any better, had to frag it earlier today, but even those dont look great, it really doesnt like something. also a small sps colony isnt going to make it. so that makes this 1. big green birdsnest. 2. small sps colonie (brown color no biggie was one of the ones i was going to sell or trade. 3. small frag 4. small frag (both nice one i was going to sell.

out of about 30 different sps frags/colonies/and what nots losing 4 is not bad i guess. just bummed on the big birdsnest.

all fish doing great, and even the new pink tail trigger. so cool.

ro/di unit came in today will have it installed soon.

with more volume and the flow going temp only got to 79. big help.

pics with the good camera should be up tomorrow.

got the ro/di unit going, have my first 10 gallons, and also have my first water spill since i decided to go out last night came home to just a gallon or 2 on the floor, haha. right of passage i suppose. i did end up adding some anthias, gonna test water, make some new saltwater to get some better water in the tank. everyone looks great, may have saved one or 2 frags of the big birdsnest, out of like 25 frags of it only 2 are still alive, it really didnt recover at all. it was once it was going down there was no stopping it.

yes i should have pics up later today, just gotta find the cord for the usb to camera.
