120 Tank Build Thread

Well after numerous suggestions to go ahead and do a tank build thread, here it is. All equipment is purchased and stand/canopy is on it's way and will be staining and then stealing a couple people to help with my lights (thanks roy/mark). Going to have 2- 20 Amp GFCI Breakers installed solely for the tank (thanks steve).

Here's pics of the stand/canopy and a list of equipment I plan on using. Please let me know if you have any suggestions. For all the people out there that have helped me, thanks! I would have put a bat through my tank already had I not had all the help!

Thanks,
Justin

2- Lumenarc III Mini Reflectors
Hamilton 250W 14 Single Ended Bulbs
Sunlight Supply BlueWave 7 Dual Ballast HQI
IceCap Temp Sensing 4" Fans
ICECAP 660 VHO Retro Kit with 4- 50/50 Actinic (46”)
EuroReef RS-180 with Gate Valve Mod (GenX 4100)
AC Jr. with PH probe with DC8
45 Gallon Sump/Fuge
Finnex PC Lights for Fuge
Mag-12 for Return
2- Tunze 6000’s with Suregrip Magnets
160 LBS. CaribSea Seaflor Special Grade Sand
110 LBS. of Kalieni, Univa, and MI
Auto Top Off unit
JBJ Digital Mag-Float

On the stand I had 2 trap doors made on the floor area so should I have a leak, I can pull the one on the opposite side of my sump to clean and run a fan since I have wood floors. I also had a shelf built on the top inside for my ballast to get it out of the way. In addition, I got it made without the brace running top to bottom on the front to make it easier to work on the inside and doors on each end. There is also routed holes in the sides of the canopy for extra cooling even though it's got an open back.

Sorry for so many pics!

Looks great. Make SURE you cover the inside of that canopy with stuff that lets no moisture in. If not no matter how well you ventilate it will warp after time. Marine paint is good for that but there are other on there who know more about it.

Also never apologize for too many pics, no such thing!!

The 2 removable panels in there are for if I have any leaks I can remove the door and put towels, fan, etc... down there since I have wood floors I don't want to ruin. If my sump is on the left, I'll be able to access the right one or vice versa. Come on Roy, no sane person hides there stash under 165 gallons of water

Yeah, I already have the paint for it which I was also told will help with the VHO's as well

Thanks for the comment because I don't want to miss anything if possible.

Not a whole lot of updates due to all the things that went on over the holidays. (funeral)
So I figured I'd update a bit.
The stand is being picked up tonight for staining. Thanks ocicat for the recommendation. Clark, it's the same guy that did yours also. Should have it in about a week. Going to hit roy up to help with the lights and steve for electrical. Then, should be good to go. Will do a large water change so while it's not weighing as much I can move it to the side so I can put the new stand where the old one is. That way I can run both and transfer at a slower pace.

Just an update.

Electric is in! I have 2- 20 amp GFCI dedicated solely to the fish tank.

Stand is done (just need to get it) I've already seen it and it turned out awesome. Thanks to ocicat who recommended Pat Keller. I would also recommend him to anyone looking for any woodworking, etc... done.

Going to be putting the baffles in the sump next week and building a custom acrylic box for my top off reservior.

Going to try to hit someone up to help me hook up my lights in my canopy.

Have to tape a small peice of drywall I cut out and paint behind where the stand will go. Then I'll get it leveled and put the tank on and start adding the new sand.

LOTS of pics to come.

Well thanks to roy for helping out with my lights. Gotta get some wingnuts and a 660 extension and the lights are ready to go. Sump should be ready soon. I will get pics tomm.
