$1200 for custom tank/sump/stand shipped? Or local?

Kinetic,
Did you try to get a hold of me? We do custom sizes and I am local to this area, a BAR member and we offer low iron glass. On the closed loop. Our back panel is not tempered so it can be drilled and our tanks offer "movement kits" which will allow you to add extra pumps to the over flow in a very unique and easy way. If you have any questions let me know and I apologize if I did not return a call. Sometimes I receive messages that I can't understand the phone number, perhaps this is what happened?

OH WOW! NEAT! I didn't know he was on this forum too. Amazing.

Jesse: I actually went to the elosusa.com site and sent in a few emails via the contact forum on the website. I'm thinking those forms aren't very reliable (technology is evil). I should've just emailed you directly or something probably.

I will send you a PM with some questions. And that is quite amazing how you popped in right when elos was mentioned! so cool =)

lol.

Thanks for the replies.

I dont think ive seen a cooler system than elos, just clean and cool looking. but i do appreciate having all your extra stuff and not requiring the complete system . . . best of luck with whatever you come up with.

Not too familiar with plant tanks, but i love the look of the japanese and euro systems that ive seen with the clean tops and hoods.

Jesse - looks like you guys make a great product! saw them over at the hayward store - impressive. a true plug and play system it would seem, very cool.

2 questions for you:

1. what type of adhesive is used to bond the tanks? no bead of silicon . . . .

2. how does your skimmer compare with other euro skimmers? what pump do you use??

appreciate the learnings.
David

Kinetic,
PM or email and let me know what your questions are. I recently sent out a 120 xl in "crystal" and it was amazing but it wasn't cheap:)

Recreative,
1. the adhesive is made specially for us. Not exactly sure of the makeup but I do know this: It takes a very long time to cure (40+ days) and it is completely non-toxic and it is STRONG.

2. We only use eheim pumps in all of our systems and the same is true of our skimmers and reactors. The skimmer is very unique and it is an injection style so it is a bit hard to make comparisions but I can give you some detail. The NS skimmers use our patented top down injection and this allows for a very long contact time. All the construction is 100% acrylic, ozone safe and all work is CNC and laser cuts. We sell the skimmers with eheim pumps but any pump can be used. I have even had a store use a needlewheel eheim with the top down injection with some crazy results. The skimmer can be completely disassembled and the pump can be positioned in a variety of ways. The skimmer pot can simple be removed without a need for a locking mechanism ( so you don't have to rearrange your sump everytime you clean the cup :) ) and the only adjustment you need to make is a small clamp to adjust air intake. You can see pictures of the skimmer running in our "elos usa" forum on this site. The only thing that really needs to be done with this skimmer is to clean the injector, simply suck up some RO water through the air line every once in a while ( I do it once a month) and clean the cup. The performance is great and it is very easy to adjust. When I first got mine I was amazed at how small it was and how much skimmate it produced. Let me know if you have any other questions and check out our forum. Jesse

Hi Jesse,
I sent you an email concerning a potential tank build ;)

I'm actually pretty excited about a system that's ready to be put together without going out and nickle and diming myself to death. I hope an Elos system can be put together that would comparable to the custom setup I've been planning!

Thank you for the awesome response thus so far!

Hold on I am still on chapter 3 of your email:) I will be gone for the weekend but it may be best to talk about this over the phone. Email me a number and a good time to call and I can give you all the info you asked about and more.

haha I thought it would be a ridiculously long email. I'll send over my phone number instead.

what a sport, he actually is looking at my novel of a email! ;)

Don't ruin the ending, I hate when people do that..............

ok, I think elos has now won in the fastest and most informative customer service category. even though I'm super busy at work, somehow a few quick emails have passed and i've gotten a million questions answered. thumbs up. i might have an elos coming my way.

oh and I was reading on the website, elos is derived from sole. They just flipped the name backward? funny =)

I have a price estimate for the whole system, minus ca reactor and lighting and closed loop. It includes three sided starphire (45 days for curing, wow), 53 gallons (32x20x20"), stand, sump, skimmer setup, ato system, return pump, for about $2500.

All I need is a Co2 System, Lighting, Closed loop system, and Chiller.

Aquarium Concepts in Hayward had an Elos system in stock when I was there this weekend. I don't recall the exact volume, but it looked like it was ~30 gallons or so.

Rimless glass (I couldn't tell if it was Starphire or not), corner overflow direct to flex tubing that was routed to the bottom of the tank, sump, Eheim skimmer, Eheim return, ATO and stand for $2000.

The adhesive looked like black silicone, but it was interesting in that it did not extend beyond the joint. Kind of like someone putting double sided tape on the edge of one piece of glass, and sticking it to the side of a second piece of glass.

Definitely a clean looking setup.

I think Elos USA has a 39 gallon tank setup as one of their smallest for reef tanks at least. Probably that. It's about 24" x 20" x 20". The adhesive is black silicone or something similar, apparently it takes 45 days to cure =X

$2000!? wow, I'm getting a great deal from Jesse then for the 53 gallon setup.

Better jump on it right away :D :bum: :strooper:

The one that AC has is a System 80 and they might be having a sale to get ready for the move to the new shop if it is 2000. Kinetic wants to add "crystal" glass. The quality of the standard float glass is very good and if he is indeed having a sale you might want to give him a call. The cabinet he has is the standard white and I believe he has both a black door and a cherry door at his shop.

haha you're an instigater ;)

I'm definately considering Elos to make the tank. Since I won't be running anything into the basement, i could feasibly move the tank with me when I move. I'm thinking of just taking my time to customize it exactly, then I'll wait to put water in it once I've settled down.

Why not wait? Well I love reefing, this will keep me busy ;) ALso I can look for good deals on collecting equipment for this tank.

that's cool, but I'm definately particular about getting the "crystal" glass =) thanks again for helping me out thus so far. I hope we can put together a great system!

btw, just to give Jesse a plug, I've never gotten such great customer service before, seriously

thanks again ;)

I'm trying to figure out where to drill my closed loop returns.

Two on the back wall and two on the bottom near the front two corners?
