125gallon tank question

Hey guys I'm new to this so I need some opinions please. I have a fully established 20long with a diy 10 sump/refugium. I just purchased a used 125 gallon with drilled corner overflows and returns. It was a fish only tank and the guy was running a 10 gallon wet/dry system. There's no room for a single tank for sump so I'm wanting to run 3 10 gallon tall tanks from glasscages.com and drill them with bulkheads. 1st tank will have skimmer filter sock 2nd tank refugium and 3rd tank return. Thanks for your time.

I would build a new stand and avoid the linking of sump tanks under the DT.
I'm going to have to agree with this.

If you hook 3 tanks up to each other with bulkheads and pipe/hose, you are increasing the chance/possibility of something developing a leak IMHO.

Will 3 sumps work is my question? I can't build plus I've already spent the money on the tank/stand.

125gallon tank question

Bsrt, It will work, but it's going to substantially increase your maintenance routine as each sump is going to become a detritus trap. Furthermore the flow through each sump is going to be very slow. I wouldn't do it. There's a right way and a wrong way to do things, that is the wrong way.

Without seeing a picture I can't help you with the stand. It's sounds like the original owner built some support leg in the middle of the cabinet. Depending on how the stand was constructed this was not necessary and could be removed. All tanks are supported by the rim not the middle.

But again, without seeing it I can't say for sure.

I'll add the pic so others can see. You can post pics by using advanced settings or copying the image code in photobucket and pasting it into the body of your post.

First question and I can't see it from the pic. Are legs between the top box frame and bottom box frame? Or are they screwed into the side?

Another pic would be helpful. I need to see how the tank is supported inside the stand.

The middle has more 2x4's screwed in. If I can pull some out without any problems I will. There's 2 2x4's going from front to back also in the middle.

It appears you can remove half of the middle 2x4's and cut them to fit between the top frame and bottom frame. Then take the remaining half and sister stud them to the ones you just installed for extra rigidity (may not be necessary, if not it will give you 3 more inches). Leave the bottom center 2x4's and add a plywood floor to the stand. Then you should have ample room for one nice size sump.

Does that make sense?
