Which pump would be more suitable for a 57 gallon rimless . ?
My tank is only missing this for it to be running leds should be here this week.

I would go with the 1262. You can always dial it back. Having extra flow is always good if you need it

i have the same tank, and actually own both the 1260 and 1262. i keep one for back up.

what kind of overflow do you have? this is important. im running a single 1 1/2 return, and a 3/4 Hydra Aquatics Twist Water Flow Accelerator.

im also Tee'ing off the supply line and running two TLF reactors.

with all this said, the 1260 is fine to run....if i use the 1262, i might dial it back a smidgen.

im actually running the 1262 right now....did some maintenance on the 1260, too lazy to switch it back.

I agree that you can always dial it back, but by this logic why don't you get something that has 5000gph flow and "just dial it back". When you calculate how much flow is needed for the tank size the OP has, the 1260 would be the closer academic answer between the two.

Excactly my thoughts. Always good to have that extra if you wanna plumb in a reactor or something down the line...

If you only use the pump for return, then 1260 is perfect. But if you want to T off to use some flow for reactors, then use the 1262

I just built a reactor system and added a 1262. I throttle back the flow a little bit to the main tank but it works perfect

i wanted a little more pump in case I needed somethign bigger down the road. I could have probably used the 1260, but am fine with the option of more flow

The 1260 and 1262 deliver a very similar amount of flow. At a certain head pressure they end up pushing the same amount. The 1260 puts out plenty. More than enough for a 57 gallon tank. In fact I think you'll end up needing to dial it back. I run a 1262 on a 300 gallon system with several powerheads. Used to run a 1260 but wanted a little more umph.

I seen brs sells dual reactor for phosban and carbon with the pump . Is the pump needed if I am plumbing the 1260 threw it? Or is the maxi jet pump there to push both reactors with out the main return pump? Sorry still new to all this lol

Get separate reactors, you'll thank yourself later. If not, I'm selling my dual, give you a deal.

what size is your sump?

sump shown in pic is a 29G for reference.

The BRS dual reactor takes up a big footprint. you might be hard pressed to get them underneath your stand, may have to run them outside of your sump/stand.

here is mines, tee'd off. i cleaned up the plumbing so this is an old picture

Do you guys think the Bubble Magus BM-NAC3+
Protein Skimmer will be good for my 57?

NAC3 seems smallish. get something bigger. i like the hero 180, or even a 150pro.

they both use the aquabee pump, which will last longer than the atmans.

Hey looks good r-ball junkie ,
So you think if I get the 1262 it will be more suitable to do that?
This guy locally is selling a 1262 off craigslist for 80 bucks.
Is there anything I should look for in these pumps when buying used?
N wish someone wouldve responded sooner bout the skimmer . I already ordered it smh but I'll just return it and get a nac5 or something.

you'll be fine with the 1262. like others said, i would go with separate reactors. if you buy 2x TLF reactors, you'll have enough pieces to cobble together a connection for both of them.

Ranlexus, I know you were thinking about my 1260. I had it on my 60gal cube for a month. I had to seriously dial it back, about maybe 80%-50% total output depending on what i was trying to achieve with regards to water level.

I bought new, when I saw many used 1260s for sale. As sturdy as the eheim brand was, I didn't want the possibility of failure; even if minor.

Just to note, I run GFO, and I use a separate pump for that. That way I can turn it on/off with my controller whenever I wanted to instead of getting it fed directly by my return pump. It helps to keep things separate, so teeing off my return pump wasn't needed. Just a thought.
