12gal eclipse setup ?'s

I have a few questions for everyone. I'm new to mantis shrimp and I want to setup a 12gal eclipse tank that I have. The tank will house one smaller sized mantis shrimp(G. Smithii ),live rock, live sand, and macro algea.Would I have to change the eclipse filter? I know to remove the biowheel but can I leave the filter for water flow with a powerhead? Are the eclipse lights sufficiant for mantis shrimp? Thanks

lighting shouldnt be a problem, the filter pad is up to you, mantis shrimp have been known to live in "less than pristine" conditions... I removed the pad on my 5 gal, but still use it on my 26 gal tank

Mentioned above was the removal of the Bio-Wheel.

Should I remove these, and why?

I still have them in my Eclipse tanks (7 of them).
Likewise, why would you remove the filter pads?

Thanks,

-Ron
